BIOGRAPHY

Patrick Tourneboeuf is interested in the common places of urban space. With Périphérique , a silent nocturnal vision of the Parisian boulevard, the beginnings of research into the suspension of time take shape. A work continued with Nulle Part , for which he stopped in seaside resorts. This disconcerting distant observation constructs a critical discourse on the use of leisure. He devotes part of his work to fixing the stigmata of History. Three photographic series focus on the places where a memory is constructed: Scar , in the footsteps of the Berlin Wall, The Memory of D-Day , on the landing beaches in Normandy, and Steles , on the war memorials of the Great War. A corpus of images taken on heritage is brought together under the title Monumental , writing without nostalgia, halfway between documentary and questioning the ambiguities of the representation of reality. Patrick Tourneboeuf has received various scholarships, residencies or awards, including the 2015 Excellence Award at Changjiang International Photography in China, or participation in the Transition Project The Social Landsape Project invited by the Photo Market School of Johannesburg in South Africa and Les Rencontres d 'Arles in France. A solo show from the Trace - Kimberley series was exhibited for six months at the MIT Museum in Cambridge / Boston, USA. In 2022 he exhibited in Venice at the Fondazione Dell'Albero d'Oro as part of the inaugural exhibition at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, echoing the Architecture Biennale. His photographs have been included in several collections, foundations and institutions, including recently the Carnavalet Museum in Paris and the Regard Collection in Berlin. He is the author of several books. Patrick Tourneboeuf is a member of the Tendance Floue collective.
